If I keep my iPhone turned on, I can automatically send my position (at intervals) via Garmin's iOS app, GPS Connect, to family, friends. My phone now goes into a waterproof bag, for use in emergency and the Garmin is my perfect navigator. I have "dunked" my phone once when launching my kayak, so I stopped using it for gps. It maintains the same great shape and feel - fits perfectly in the hand - and attaches easily to my kayak. This Garmin GPS is a more mature successor to the GPSMAP 60CSX, which I've owned for years. ![]() Buy a membership to download maps, including topos, aerial imagery.
